SAS Enterprise Guide 4.1

Introduction

Enterprise Guide is a project-oriented Windows application designed to enable quick access to much of the analytic power of the SAS System for statisticians, business analysts, and SAS programmers. Leveraging the power of SAS on many platforms, Enterprise Guide enables users to access data locally or on SAS servers, manage the data, perform basic reporting and summaries, perform basic and complex data analyses, utilize the highest quality SAS graphics, and export or publish results to SAS servers and other Windows or server based applications. Work done in Enterprise Guide can also be easily shared by other Enterprise Guide users. Most work done in Enterprise Guide can be shared with other SAS users external to Enterprise Guide via the transparent SAS code generation underpinning the application.

Availability

University of Virginia faculty and staff who wish to install Enterprise Guide on their own Windows machine may obtain the CDs from Research Computing Support Center. Enterprise Guide can be installed on a UVa-owned or personal computer, but it may only be used for UVa-related work while here at the University. Note that a web browser is required for use with Enterprise Guide software. This Web browser must be Internet Explorer, Version 5.01 SP2 or higher. These are some of the features that require a Web browser:

  • Viewing results in an integrated browser window within Enterprise Guide software. Other browsers can be used to view HTML results in a separate application window.
  • Viewing Enterprise Guide Help and the Getting Started tutorial, both of which use the Microsoft HTML Help standard.
  • Previewing styles in the Style Editor tool.
  • Previewing printer output of HTML results, if you have Internet Explorer, Version 5.5 or higher installed. (Earlier versions of Internet Explorer do not support print preview.)

Installation

SAS Enterprise Guide 4.1 is an upgrade of version 3.x. The system requirements, installation guide and administration notes refer to version 3.x. Those are the documents to use for working with version 4.1 as well.
