Mission Statement

The Research Computing Support Group of the Computing Support Division of ITC provides technologically advanced computing support to facilitate research at the University of Virginia. This support encompasses in-depth consulting services as well as targeted training programs in response to research and instructional needs.

How we can help you

  • Help you to replicate a statistical analysis described in a journal article,
  • Assist you in using latex to write a journal or conference submission,
  • Guide you to the appropriate resources to run a long running or memory intensive program,
  • Recommend software for computer simulations of dynamical systems,
  • Provide computer workshops on supported software packages,
  • and much more. Please contact us with your questions relating to research computing, if we can't help we'll find someone who can.

Objectives

  • Help researchers to effectively and efficiently use the supported software packages in the areas of statistical computing, scientific word processing, mathematical computing, and visualization.
  • Provide support and consultation on high performance computing, locally as well as through affiliations with national supercomputing sites.
  • Support researchers in their management of data access and archiving.
  • Collaborate with members of the university community for efficient utilization of computing resources in support of research and advanced scholarship.
