N'Vivo Installation Instructions

[Nov 23, 2009 14:09] Web access to Microsoft Live@edu accounts now works.

N'Vivo 8 is the most current edition of N'Vivo.
Check the QSR International Site periodically to check for new updates.

If you have not already purchased a license for N'Vivo, you may do so by either making a check out for $125 per license to the University of Virginia, or by providing a PTAO (department charge code) to us. You may contact us at Research Computing Support or by visiting us at one of our TWO locations: Research Computing Lab in Brown Science & Engineering Library (243-8799) or the Scholars' Lab in Alderman Library (243-8800).

N'Vivo is an ANNUAL license, and must be repurchased every year. Licenses will time out on October 1st. If you have purchased a license, and we receive a new version of N'Vivo, you will be eligible for the newest version at no additional cost.

Installation Instructions

  1. Log into the ITC Research Computing Support Licensing Web Site. Sign in using NetBadge, and you will be directed to the site.
  2. Look under Current License(s) on the left side of the page. Select N'Vivo 8, and then, under License Actions, select Review Eula & Change Licensing Info.
  3. Read the EULA, input all necessary information and click Submit.
  4. Look under Current License(s) on the left side of the page. Select N'Vivo 8, and then, under License Actions, select Access License Codes & Program Files. It is on THIS PAGE where you will find the necessary SERIAL NUMBER to activate your installation.
  5. Copy the number so that you will be able to activate your software. NOTE: Be very careful in reading the 0s for ZERO, 1 vs l for One vs EL, and other potential misreads.
  6. Go to the QSR International Web Site and download the latest version of N'Vivo.
  7. Open the installation file, and follow directions. This MAY take some time to install, as it analyzes your system to make sure you have the Microsoft SQL Server Environment on your computer. If you do NOT have it, the installation package will install it for you. Please accept all default settings to make sure that it is properly installed. Again, this may take some time.
  8. When prompted for activation, select the activation via Internet option, and use the SERIAL NUMBER from Step 4, above, to activate your software. This should then open the N'Vivo software for your use.
