When I go to UVa titlebar

ITC's Customer Communications and Publishing group has teamed up with the School of Continuing and Professional Studies' Educational Technologies group to produce a short but memorable video on the tenets of responsible computing at UVa. Shooting for a diverse group ranging from faculty and administrators to new and seasoned students, the piece is a parody* of the 1999 monster.com commercial, "When I grow up...." We selected children from around Charlottesville (many with parents who either work at UVa or are alums of the school), and did all the videotaping in the Charlottesville area. The video won a first place award in the 2001 ACM/SIGUCCS competition for promotional video/audio materials. ACM/SIGUCCS is the Association of Computing Machinery's Special Interest Group on University and College Computing Services. The video has also been featured in The Chronicle of Higher Education and Education Week and was selected in December 2001 as an Award of Excellence recipient in the CASE (Council for the Advancement and Support of Education) District III Advancement Awards Program in the Television category.

The "When I go to UVa..." video has been formatted for viewing with QuickTime, Real Player, and Windows Media. If you need to download one of these viewing applications, please visit http://www.virginia.edu/majorevents/webcast.html for instructions.

It is intended to help inform its viewers about laws, policies, and good practices of computer usage in order to encourage them to be responsible users of the Internet and the University's computer systems.
