Requirements
- Mac OS X version 10.3 with all current updates applied.
- Make sure the time and date are correct on your computer.
- An AirPort or AirPort Extreme wireless network card.
- You must register your card on the UVa Network Registration site prior to setup. Guests should have this done by their UVa sponsor, or else have PIN access granted by the sponsor or sponsoring event.
These instructions will allow you to connect to the wahoo unencrypted wireless network. Guests cannot connect to the cavalier encrypted wireless network and are encouraged to make use of any VPN resources provided by their own institutions for network data protection.
If you are a UVa-affiliated individual with Mac OS X, you should configure your computer to access the cavalier encrypted wireless network.
Configure Mac OS X to Connect to wahoo
Prepare your Computer
- Ensure your computer is fully updated. Run Software Update found under the Apple Menu to update your operating system along with other system components—including AirPort software.
- Install your Airport Card AirPort/AirPort Extreme card, if it is not installed already.
Configure your Wireless Connection Settings
- Click the AirPort menu bar icon
located in the top right of your screen. (If AirPort is off (i.e.,
), select Turn AirPort On and then click the AirPort icon again.) From the drop-down menu, select other… 
- Enter wahoo into the Network Name field and leave the Password field blank. (Note: the connection will not use WPA as the Wireless Security pop might seem to indicate, that only applies when a password is used.)

- Click the OK button. (If you get an error, please confirm your AirPort card is registered correctly)
- Once you are connected, you will maintain a connection unless you do one of two things:
- You move out of range of the wahoo wireless network
- You turn off your AirPort card
- You can check the status of your connection by opening Internet Connect located under the AirPort menu bar icon.
