Macintosh OS X at UVa

Networking: On-Grounds Wired Connection

[Nov 23, 2009 14:09] Web access to Microsoft Live@edu accounts now works.

Follow these instructions to register your Mac OS X computer to use the UVa network.

  1. Connect your computer to an active ethernet port using an ethernet cable.
  2. Open your web browser (e.g., Safari, Firefox). Follow the on-screen instructions to register your computer on the network. If you get a "Page Not Found" error when you open the browser, you should check your Ethernet settings.
  3. To check your Ethernet settings, open the Apple menu and choose System Preferences.
  4. In the System Preferences panel, choose Network, then click on Ethernet. In the Configure drop down menu, select DHCP and click apply
  5. Open your browser again.
    • A page should now appear, providing instructions on how to register your computer on the UVa network. Once you have registered your computer, you will be able to access the internet and email.
    • If you still don't see the instructions to register your computer on the UVa network, double check your connection to the Ethernet port. If the connection appears correct, contact the ITC Help Desk.
