Savvy Software Shopping Guide

[Nov 23, 2009 14:09] Web access to Microsoft Live@edu accounts now works.

Some great tips on getting good software deals.

Check out ITC's Site Licensed Software

ITC may already have the software you are looking for, or something similar. General-use software can be found at Software Central.

Research and statistical software packages are available at the RCSC Software Licensing Database.

Need Microsoft Software? Check out the Microsoft Select Site

If your looking for Microsoft software for UVa-owned equipment, go straight to UVa's Microsoft Select page.

Shop around

Rarely is the academic price shown in company literature or on their web pages. Usually you will have to call and ask about it. The list below includes a few computer software companies, their phone numbers, and links to their web sites. It's always a good idea to check out Cavalier Computers, since they are geared toward providing products for the University of Virginia environment.
