[Nov 23, 2009 14:09] Web access to Microsoft Live@edu accounts now works.
To import the contacts in your address book from your Central Mail Service (CMS) account into your UVa Microsoft Exchange service mailbox:
Iif you were a Thunderbird or Mulberry user:
- Export your address book from Thunderbird or Mulberry into a data file;
- Then, import your address book data file into Outlook 2007 or 2003, or Entourage.
If you were a Eudora user:
- The address book import process is not exactly the same as with other email programs.
- You cannot import your contacts if you are on a computer running Vista, but if you're running XP, Microsoft has instructions on how to import your address book.
- If you have further questions, contact the ITC Help Desk.
Step 1: Export Your Address Book from Your Current Email Program
Follow the instructions below to export an address book data file from Thunderbird or Mulberry:
Thunderbird Users
- Open Thunderbird.
- Click on the Address Book icon or under the Tools menu, select Address Book.
- In the lefthand section of the window, highlight the address book you would like to export. In most cases, this will be your Personal Address Book.
- Tip: Before proceeding with the export, do a quick review of what is currently in your Address Book, because one of Thunderbird's default settings is to save the email address of anyone to whom you have ever sent an email, so your address book may include email addresses that are not used on a regular basis, or can be found through UVa resources (Global Address Book or LDAP).
- Under the Tools menu, select Export.
- On the Export Address Book window, enter a location where you would like to save the file.
- Enter a name you would like to give the file. (The File type should be “LDIF (*.ldi, *.ldif) if you are on a Windows computer, or Comma Separated (*.csv) if you are on a Mac.)
- Click Save.
- Go on to Step 2.
