Email Mailing Lists

Academic Class Mailing Lists

[Nov 23, 2009 14:09] Web access to Microsoft Live@edu accounts now works.

Class List Options

There are two options for emailing entire rosters of academic classes at the University of Virginia. You may use UVaCollab or create a Mailman mailing list for your class.

UVaCollab

Faculty, staff, and students at the University of Virginia are eligible for UVaCollab accounts. Many instructors find UVaCollab's Email Archive tool easier to use than Mailman lists and UVaCollab also afford greater compliance with federal regulations regarding privacy of class rosters. To learn more about emailing with UVaCollab, please visit the website and select the link for Help; then choose Email Archive to find documentation on UVaCollab and its email tools.

Mailman mailing list

Instructors can also use Mailman mailing lists. To create a Mailman mailing list for a class, please use the Web form and note in the purpose that you are aware of the UVaCollab list option but prefer, at this time, to use a Mailman list for your class.

Remember to Hide the Class Roll after the Mailman mailing list has been created for your class.
