Computing Survival Skills (CSS)

Computing Survival Skills (CSS) is a comprehensive training certification program designed to teach LSAs the basic computing skills and knowledge necessary to provide efficient and effective technical computing support within their departments at the University of Virginia.

For more information regarding the CSS program, please visit the CSS web site (http://www.itc.Virginia.EDU/dcs/css/). In addition to fully describing the program, the CSS web site also contains an extensive collection of resources which are available for reference, both during and after class.

LSA Professional Development Series

After completing the Computing Survival Skills training program, LSAs have the opportunity to participant in the LSA Professional Development Series. The series offers brown-bag lunch sessions on topics of interest to LSAs. Some sessions in the series address topics from the CSS workshops in more depth, while others explore new topics. The on-going training sessions provide a comfortable, informative learning environment where cross-departmental relationships are established and networking partnerships can be formed.

Office Technology Conference

Graduates of the Computing Survival Skill training program will receive a 50% discount off the cost of the Office Technology Conference.

All office professionals who use and value technology in the workplace will benefit from the annual Office Technology Conference. The conference, which explores technology issues at the University, is open to all administrative faculty, managers, supervisors and administrative staff, including technical and computer professionals.
