Departmental Applications Development

Project Portfolio and Customers

[Nov 23, 2009 14:09] Web access to Microsoft Live@edu accounts now works.

The Departmental Applications Development (DAD) group can develop new applications or enhance existing ones, according to the needs of our customers. Among our hundreds of previous projects for UVa’s academic, administrative, and Health System units, we’ve worked on everything from simple word processing merges to complex data collection and reporting systems.

We provide computing solutions for any size group, small or large. In particular, smaller organizations may find that we can help them by writing applications for their data gathering, analyzing, and report-building. We also offer our expertise by consulting with projects involving other programmers.

We have many samples of this type of work and can provide additional examples upon request.

Portfolio Examples

RAFT

RAFT was developed to centralize monitoring of staff hours and evaluations across all residency and fellow programs at the Medical Center. With about 1,000 users, dozens of reports, several security levels, downloadable data, and streamlined input forms.

CVC

You may have used the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign pledge site when you made a contribution to the Commonwealth Campaign in fall 2007. DAD implemented a solution that supported the collection of pledges via the traditional paper form, as well as introducing a secure website to support online giving. The data collection portion of the system is used to collect pledges and allows the CVC staff to report daily giving amounts. The system also generates the accounting sheets needed to reconcile giving with monies received. The sophisticated system gives the University an edge and helped the University achieve the "number one" spot in giving.
