Low-magnification images
Images of large mounted sections such as whole mouse brain or whole rat kidney can be captured on the low-magnification microscope with 1.2x and 0.5x objectives and the ability to zoom. Both brightfield and darkfield viewing are possible, and there are two independent directional lights that can be used to illuminate the stage from above. The fitted camera can take digital images of up to 4080 x 3072 pixels (13.6" x 10.24" at 300 dpi). The low-magnification microscope is fitted with a fluorescent illuminator with GFP and G filters. (For instructions see document ACHS-114.)
High-magnification images
The high-magnification microscope has 100x (oil), 40x, 10x, 4x, and 2x objectives and can be set for either brightfield or darkfield viewing. The microscope is equipped with a digital camera that can take images up to 4080 x 3072 pixels (13.6" x 10.24" at 300 dpi). This microscope is fitted with fluorescent illumination, and the camera is capable of capturing images in very low light. (For instructions see documents ACHS-112)
Quantification of images
The software program Image-Pro Plus allows easy quantification of microscope images. The program will import TIFF files produced by PhotoShop or ImageQuant.
